on the question of "slavery". The gentleman whose views have been quoted is the Reverend T. V. Pearce, the greatly respected head of the London Mission, a very old resident of the Colony and a well-known Chinese scholar.

I take this opportunity of enclosing an article recently published in a local razine by Mr. Lau Chu-pak,

which appears to me to deal with the "slavery" question in a

very sensible manner.
